My 1965 Chevy swb(Dream Truck)

I'm new to this site and have been stick to it ever since I located it on the net. I never could have imagined that this many guys have the same thoughts about old chevy trucks. When I was young my dad bought a 64 chevy LWB in 1967. When I turned 9yoa I started working on it with him and we did a frame off with the truck. The truck eventually became mine and I drove it all the way through high school. When I started college my brain must have fell put of my head because I traded it off for something that got better mileage going to school and back. DUMBEST idea I ever had, and have regretted it since. I just found this 65 and it's a shortbed with a custom cab, big back window, and the original high torque 283 w/ power pack heads. 94k original miles on it. It's not running donut will be a frame off restoration. I'm a one man show so t might take me some time to finish, but I will post it along the way, and hopefully it will inspire someone else to restore one. I love these trucks, and I'm really looking forward to driving this one I have now sooner than later. Hope ya like the thread as I go along.

Not sure exactly why the pics are upside down.
I flip the photo in the pic file on the computer if it shows up upside down.

Hey, Welcome to the forum.
Hope to see lots of pic.

I thought about doing my truck for years. Years!!!

Hope you get as much enjoyment out of your build as I have with mine.

Welcome and I'll keep peeking in.

Ok thanks for the help. I'll be loading some more pics soon!!
By the way I was just looking at your stretched ride, that thing is going to stand out, it rocksss
I wish I had your metal skills. I'm more of the "buy the premade filler piece" type of guy.
You can def tell that you are very comfy with a sheet of metal.

Re: My 1965 Chevy swb(Dream Truck)

Jon,
The storm missed me for the third time now so my family and I are extremely blessed for that alone. 3/4th's if a mile to my south is total destruction tho, but as you know we Okies are strong and I can't believe how quickly progress is being made. America would be proud to see how fast our recovery has been this time. Now if they just made a billet big enough to kill a tornado, we would be set. Thanks for askin and talk to ya soon....

I know what you mean. It's frustrating. Every time I go out to the shop after hours I open the door and there she is. Hanging from the ceiling. I've told her to stop messing around before she hurts herself or breaks something. But what can you do? Kids!

Now, seriously, lots of photos.

Dave.

and aboard! I can relate to your "lost me head" moment, back in the mid 80s I sold a 61 GMC for a song and bought a 72 Monte...
This place is full of great folks and there is a wealth of info here as well... Have fun with your build, I may be a bit late but I am watching now!

Re: My 1965 Chevy swb(Dream Truck)

Well unfortunately not on the truck. We put our house up for sale and have a contract on a much bigger one. Also there is from for a shop, so I'm really pumped about that. Soon as I get moved ill be back on it like gangbusters. I'm on the site everyday and envious of everyone's builds, and look forward to getting back on it. I see yours is coming right along, how's everything on your end?.?.?
