2wd Blazer questions

I've seen a 2wd Blazer for sale and have a few questions. This is supposedly an original 2wd but the vin number starts BKE I thought all 2wd vins started with CE or CS and I've never seen a vin start with a B. I crawled all over this Blazer (1969 by the way) and it has trailing arm rear and the frame is bowed out at the rear where the springs mount. The crossmember is riveted in, not bolted in as well as the front crossmember. The cab has the small hump and has never been cut for a transfer case. It was a three on the tree but now has an automatic and a 350 (not original motor) I'm just curious because all these seem to say 2wd except the vin.

Thanks, Roger

2wd blazer started in 1970. All 2 wheel drives have coil rears. match the vin number to the number on the frame. You can find the numbers above the steering box on top of the frame rail.

If it is a '69, then it's not original 2wd. By the way, my '69 has a vin that starts with BKE!

Thanks guys. I checked the number on the frame and it doesn't match so I'm assuming a 2wd frame was swapped in. Someone did some good work on it though, it drives and handles great.

That or they swapped the VIN ont he door jamb. (low hump w/no hole makes me think this) Does the glove box still have the sticker?

Does the back of the frame look like it has been cut off?

It's been painted over... I'm pretty sure it's an original 2wd frame that was swapped in. It does have 6 lug wheels and drums as well as power brakers and steering. I may buy it anyway, it looks good and drives good.

Gee Emm, no there are no welds or cuts on the frame anywhere.

Thanks, Rg

Nightmare, $5,000 This may be high for a non original but I like it and am trying to talk him down, I'll take some pictures and post them later, maybe you guys could advise me on it. You NEVER see on of these in Kentucky, I know they are out there because I see them on the net but they are $$$!

Thanks, Rg

Here's a picture, I know the grill i '71 0r '72 but it is 6 lug and drum 2wd and the frame is stamped 0Sxxxxxx so I think the frame is from a '70.

looks sharp. but from the frame numbers you quoted, its a 70 2wd frame, with a 69 body and ... well you know the rest. anyhow, i'd spend the $5K for it.

Wow, it is very nice looking! There are a lot of non-original 2wd's out there that don't look that nice for the $. Does the vin plate have the original riviets? If all looks good, I say go for it!

Thanks guys, I called the guy this morning and told him I would buy it. I couldn't help myself! As far as the rivets, they are kind of star shaped. I crawled underneath and the area of the hump has no holes for a transfer case. I'm not gonna get too hung up on it, I like it just for what it is.

Thanks for the advise, Roger

P.S. Now I gotta sell the '77, wives don't understand this collecting thing...
