Found this beauty on craigslist. Should I?

I found this truck on craigslist and I'm considering it but I'm not sure if it's worth it. What do you think? Here is the link.

Unless it's a rust bucket, sounds like a good deal.

Re: Found this beauty on craigslist. Should I?

It's got a lot going for it.

$3500.00 sounds like a deal to me (but I don't know much, I got my truck for free when I turned 21 ).

If I wanted it, and could afford it, or wanted it badly enough to figure out how to afford it, I'd contact the seller and make a trip.

I am more into stepsides but I like the engine size, color, lwb, and 3/4 ton chassis.

Good luck!

I would say if it was as good as it looks , it would be a good truck for the price....

I like it. Newly rebuilt Big block, tach, factory radio. Do yourself a favor and delete this entire post and go check the truck out

Re: Found this beauty on craigslist. Should I?

Recent repaint on passenger bedside? Might just be me, but Pic #1 looks like there's either some a) frame twist, b) bed misalignment, or c) cab mount damage/rust thru (bed and cab just look poorly aligned to me - could just be an optical illusion, dunno).

All in all, if the above worry turns out to be nothing - then it's WELL worth the asking price. I'd still make sure he "throws in" those extra parts that he says he might throw in. a 72 Custom Camper Custom Deluxe big block with a freshly built TH400. YES YES YES

If he has receipts for the engine and trans being rebuilt then I'd say that's a very good buy.

If the body is really as clean as it looks, that's a deal.

If motor and trans are that fresh it's worth it in parts, wish I was close. Aw heck you go get it. It sounds like a good deal.

^ Could not have said what I was thinking any better than that Jocko. I thought the first photo of the front of the truck made it really look tweeked out of shape.

Buyer beware and make sure the frame is not twisted. Otherwise, a good buy for the cash.

Re: Found this beauty on craigslist. Should I?

I just finished paying a shop to rebuild my 402. It costs more to rebuild the motor than what the asking price is for this truck. If you are unsure or don't know what to look for pay a trusted mechanic to look it over before buying. These trucks are expensive to restore and enjoy. My best advise is to always start with something good unless you're a professional mechanic or own a body shop. Just my .02. I own two 71's and one 72.

I saw that too, the front bed line is covered up by the cab, could be damage to bed, cab or door?

Re: Found this beauty on craigslist. Should I?

It turns out you all were right it the cab corners and rockers were replaced and it needs the cab mounts replaced which he has the parts. It also needs aligned. The rockers are starting to show some rust though. It is a pretty nice truck, but I might go with a k20. On the fence.

I don't know, man. Be cautious, but don't be so picky that you miss out on what could be a very nice truck. This isn't a 3 year old lease return Lexus
