Fuel sending unit okay, gauge not working?

I thought my sending unit was bad since my fuel gauge never moves. I pulled it and checked it with an ohm meter and it seams to be okay. What else could it be? The gauge itself? It worked when I got the truck, just stopped one day at 1/8 of a tank
Thanks

Did you check the fuse for the dash gauge?

Make sure wire for fuel gauge is still connected to fuse block

Re: Fuel sending unit okay, gauge not working?

I did check the wire and the fuse. I drove the truck to day and noticed the temp gauge wasn't working either. I had only visually checked the fuse and it looked okay, but it turns out it was bad. I changed it and the gauges started working again. Leave it to me to make something more complicated than it has to be!
THANKS!!!

Re: Fuel sending unit okay, gauge not working?

The problem I've found more often than anything else is the ground. People test the sending unit at the sending unit, but the ground would still be bad. I would say out of a several dozen people that brought in cars/trucks with a "bad fuel gauge", only 2 or 3 were actually the gauge. Try testing the resistance between the unit and a ground point.
