My first 68' C-10

I am proud to say that I am the 3rd owner of this awesome barn find 1968 Chevy C-10. I paid $3K for this running/driving factory ordered 396 cu in truck with PS/PB, factory air, auto transmission & a 12 bolt rearend. I know it's a long bed but I dont mind it. It was cheap, running and it has a factory ordered big block & yes it's documented on the build sheet inside the glovebox lid. It's all original and has not been altered or molested, it even still has the original AM radio in it. It needs some TLC because it was sitting in a barn for about 2 or 3 years or more. It's gonna be a great winter project - it's great therapy for me!

wow I'd say you stole that truck for 3 grand, with PS,AC, 396 Custom trim Looks to be super solid. In my area people want that much for a rust bucket with a 6 banger. Kool truck and CONGRATS...

You should be proud, thats a fine looking truck. I wish we had barn finds like that up here in NY but they're all eaten up by salt. Theres nothing wrong with lwb trucks. they'll do anything swb trucks will do. Great color too. I'm a newby to the site too, but welcome!

Nice score love your truck! Welcome to the board! You're sure to get a lot of good advice here. We love pictures and you have a pretty rare truck with a bb in a 68 so we need more pictures of it.

Re: My first 68' C-10

Very similar to mine 'xcept mine is GMC and had buddies and speed warning, and it is 3/4 ton. That is the reason mine is already planned to make the change to short frame with 5 lug suspension. I already have the frame rolling and just have to get it back up to the top of the list. awesome truck you have there, most anyone would be proud [or should be ] to own it. Jim

Nice score! Nothing wrong with a long bed, and if you use it as intended now and then the long bed is handier. Keep the pics coming!!

Great find! That seems like a color you don't see very often in 68's. What are your restoration plans?

Re: My first 68' C-10

Thanks guys! Its great to be here & to be in great company. And thanks for all the great comments on my 68'. I have been wanting a 67' or 68' for years now & got lucky and got this one. My plans are to just getting it to be a possible daily driver status. Getting the A/C & the heater controls working, new tires, repace the rear bumper, flush the fuel tank & check the pick-up (it cuts out when making left hand turns), the wood bed needs to be replaced & tons of small items; vent window knob, weather stripping, window regulators, arm rest, inside rearview mirror arm, tailgate trim, put carpet in & replace the vinyl floor mat, etc... As far as the paint it looks as if it's been painted twice with that Vermillion Metallic. The original paint code inside the glove box shows it to have been a white cab & that white is starting to show thru in some spots. It shows to have the original seat & seat cover on it. Overall the truck is in awesome condition for the age it is & with no rust!! I found out that the man that ordered this truck back in 68' ordered it this way to pull his 5th wheel travel trailer with. That's why it has the big block with the 12 bolt axle & A/C, PS/PB. I'll get some interior pics as soon as this winter storm weather clears up here, yes it does snow here in Texas...lol See pic....
