don't like it they cut the dash for a newer style radio. but everything else is nice even the dash pad. also looks like fairly new front and back window rubber.

Re: back with a 70 D100

its a longbed. main goal is to get the cab in shape and a few other things done to make road worthy for now. but I am worried I may not be able to get in my garage as it mite be to wide to fit thu the swing out doors

Re: back with a 70 D100

ok so it just fit in the garage. well I said it was in rough shape. starting on the drivers side. hopefully I can straighten out the rocker panels to make it work.
in the process of making cardboard templates to see which way is going to be the easiest way to go about doing the repairs.

Re: back with a 70 D100

I had a shortbed '70 D200 many years ago up in Maine. My cab was in as bad a shape as yours appears to be. I put it together using angle iron, old metal real estate signs and lots of boat fiber glass sheet and resin. Got it to pass inspection and drove it for 3 years. Mine had the 225 slant six and a 3 OTT. It was the most fun truck I have ever had.

Wish I could find a "rust free" one and have it beside my '69 C10 BB.

Re: back with a 70 D100

rust free on the east coast yea right lol. im still working on a cardboard template to make a structure I can start with and go from there. worst area to fund would be the lower hinge pockets areas, figure if I cant the lowers ill use the top one and work it into the jam

Re: back with a 70 D100

well haven't done much to the truck at all been out looking for parts the past couple of weeks. I found a couple that I can get parts from. one is a 68 crew cab, very nice long box and front clip I can buy for a decent price. 2nd one is a 61-64, no m/t and aftermarket utility bed on it. It came about crossing paths with a guy I knew from high school, his Pop passed away last year and he was just going to scrap it. I checked it out today and the cab needs alitle front floor work so im gonna be snagging it up for the cab, kicker tho I wont be able to get for another month or so. In the mean time im gonna pull my cab apart of any and all salvageable parts, remove it the cab to clean up the chassis and get paint on it and cleanup and regasket the m/t. I will get a few progress pics as I go.

Re: back with a 70 D100

well not a lot of progress as of all this dang snow we been having lately. Im going to meet with the guy from school this weekend and finalize the deal on the 61-64 cab and front clip. Hope I can start tearing the front clip off it too on sunday as it will be a couple more weeks till we can pull the truck out of its hiding spot. if it works out ill finally be able to get into my garage to get the truck turned around to get the front clip and cab off my frame. going to clean up the frame and get it painted before I set the other cab back on.

Re: back with a 70 D100

well small update. next weekend as long as the weather holds out I be able to pick up the cab from the guy I went to school with. it does need alittle more then I originally thought , but its still better then what I have. went out this week and got my truck turned around and after sitting for like 3 months in a cold garage the truck fired right up. so now I can get out and start tearing the front clip off. moving it around the driveway the steering is actually fairly easy to turn, so up in the air about swapping out the straight axle or channel floor since I need to cut the front half of it out anyway.

Re: back with a 70 D100

well I spent about an hour the other day tearing it down , got grill and right fender off. I also been throwing the idea around of converting to a short stepside. well got lucky and picked up rear fenders, $40 for the pr and decent shape too. hope to get more tore down this coming weekend.

Re: back with a 70 D100

There were a lot of changes made to those Dodges between 1961 and 1971 when that style ended. Pre-67 had pull handle doors and they won't swap to 68-71 cabs that had push button doors. The dash changed in 69 and the windshield wipers changed also. In mid-65 the wheel base of long bed trucks changed and along with the wheel base change the bed changed to a double wall with oval tail lights, where the previous style had wheel tubs inside and round tail lights. Grill changes are obvious but the pre 65 grill with four head lights wont bolt on to the later truck. The entire front clip will fit on a later truck though. Just a few things that I remember and just mentioning them since you are considering a cab swap. .

Are you familiar with Sweptline.org? www.sweptline.org It's probably the best place for information and parts.

Also the original Sweptline forum: http://www.dodgesweptline.org

I had a Dodge before and these were I spent most of my internet time.
