93 s-15 voltage issue

Ok I've done some searching on this part of the forum and haven't found any threads that fit my issue.

1993 S-15 jimmy one owner, with only 107,000+ miles. I've been the primary mechanic/maintainer of it.

I started out with a SES light coming on and hard starting issues and then no starting issues concurrently. I had it checked out and it was code 54 low fuel pump voltage. I checked what I could and determined that it may be the fuel pump. So I replaced it and starting is better most times, (once in a while a little slow to start, and an occasional SES light) I checked the fuel pump relay and it is working.

So now I'm down to occasional slow to start issues, and now the volt gauge is fluctuating from 14v+ at speed to a low of 6v-7v at idle. (this may have been going on before, IDK, I'm not the driver of it)

I had the alternator checked and it is good. It was a new GM replacement on 5-11-2000 (possibly 27,000 miles or less). Yeah it's now an older alternator but really minimal mileage.

So any ideas? I've read through trouble shooting charts and can't really nail down any specific scenarios.
