Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

I picked my self up a Vintage (guessing 60's) Pathfinder camper to restore to match the truck. Haven't been able to get much done on it yet. Tore out a bunch of rotted boards and replaced them but the snow started flying and its been sitting under a tarp since!

My plans are to have the area above the masked stripe pearl white. The stripe itself polished aluminum. and below the stripe Aqua color like the truck. Once its done it'll be sure to draw attention at campgrounds/carshows! What do you guys think?

Anyone else have Matching campers or vintage campers to go along with their truck?

It's about 40 miles from me. The price has been slowly going down, if I didn't have to put a bunch of money into both my car and my truck I'd make an offer.

Found this one on the farm of one of my customers- and yes, we brought it home, LOL! I mainly wanted the trailer it was sitting on. No plans for it yet, need to really check it out structurally.

Re: Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

I have been looking for a vintage camper for awhile, but I'm hesistant to pull the trigger until I finish my '64. I don't want too many projects at one time.

I want a small "canned ham" style, and I want to decorate the inside with vintage '60s styling and run Torq-Thrust wheels to match the truck.

Re: Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

Clyde I like your camper will looked real nice when its done! I intailly was looking for a canned ham style but came across that one and was too good of a deal to pass up! plus the upper bunk that makes it look almost like a 5th wheel gives it some charector... Also wont complain about having an actual toliet haha

Re: Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

Thanks mwipp, mine doesnt have a toilet but that is ok, I bought it so my son and I could camp at state parks here in Texas ( there are tons) and go fishing and hiking.

I have the wheels off of mine right now, going through the electric brakes and sending the wheels for powder coating. I am almost ready to start putting her back together ( she is naked right now, no skin). I may paint her once I paint my truck.

Re: Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

We've talked about finding something like a 19' airstream once this truck is "finished". Pricey little suckers, so might look at other alternatives.

Re: Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

My original plan was to get an airstream but anything remotely close to my college kids spending money was nearly beyond repair... which is why i decided to go with a normal aluminum sided. Plus to that is it will be more orginal and custum since it can be painted to match the truck. Will be the one and only!... only issue right now is I have to track down its title. I have bill of sale and all that but the guy i got it from was going to take of the wheels and use it as an ice fishing shanty before i saved its life.

Re: Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

I had the same title issue, after 7 months I finally got a bonded title. my luck would be sink $4K into this darn thing and then try to title and get " oh its stolen so we are taking it!" So I didnt touch it until the TX DPS vehicle theft folks came out and gave me the proper paperwork.

Re: Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

yeah thats my same worries. We have the number of the orginal owners son-in-law but the orginal owner is dead. Also i have some cop buddies so we had them run the plate that was on the camper... and the last time it was registared was so long ago its not even on file haha Ive been trying to not stick too much into it until i have that sorted out.

Here is my 71 Serro Scotty Sportsman. Painted to match my 70 GMC (the factory color was real close to this). This thing is in excellent condition!
I don't use it as much as I thought I would so will probably sell it at some point.

Re: Anyone have vintage campers to along with their trucks?

Been thinking about a lot of stuff related to my truck.

Want to make/build a teardrop shaped canopy for the rear.

Also would love a real traditional trailer for it.

But I do have this teardrop I built in 2010 for our honeymoon and also whatever classic I may have.

BUILD THREAD HERE: http://www.retrorides.proboards.com/...ompleted-build

Before my Chevy I had a former German Ford Transit Fire Engine with modern fuel injected engine.
