72 4x4 build

I'm wanting to possibly put my 72 onto 79 3/4 ton 4x4 rolling chassis. I was curious how hard it will be and how much customizing

At the very least you might have to shorten the '79 frame. I believe the '67-'72 longbed trucks have a WB of 127" and the '73-'87 trucks WB is 131". Not sure about all of the mounts, radiator, cab, bed etc.

As the early 4x4 frames are getting tougher to find, it seems like more and more guys are using their 2wd frames and bolting the leaf spring mounts onto the frame to do the conversion.

Re: 72 4x4 build

Guess I'm lucky...my truck is a "mutt" -- a 72 custom camper C-20 mated to a K-20...making mine a 1972 Custom Camper K-20. 99% of the people just think it is a cool old truck...those in the know understand that GM never made such a beast...but can still appreciate it for what it is...a cool old truck!
