Funny that this is located in MI. I have never heard of Garden MI. I looked it up. It is in the U.P. no wonder it went undescovered for so long. If it has been sitting on the ground most of its life I bet the lower half of the truck is rotten. The 3rd door looks intresting though.

Definitely interesting. I would think it was done years ago by some custom shop. I would think if this were factory, there would be something about them in the owner's manual. If it's factory, it's definitely super rare.

Aftermarket body maker modifed them for railroads, Air Force, logging outfits etc. Most were beat to death and scrapped because they were not short wheel base step sides!

Yep, all of those early ones were built at shops similar to the ones that do van conversions now. The truck was ordered by the customer at a dealer and then the factory drop shipped the truck at a shop that converted it to what it was to become and then it was shipped to the dealer who originally sold it.

I'd absolutely love to have that cab. I've been thinking about splicing together the 2 that I have and making one. Too bad I'm short on cash.

Check this one out

Buggy.

The truck in the listing is older than 1952 but these 52 measurements should be about the same..
Check out this site for measurement and specs.

That would be so frigging cool! I would LOVE to have the opportunity to nose around inside to see how it was done back then, I wonder how well it was done?

I would LOVE to see it if anyone has access to something like that.

Buggy, I'm afraid the quality of the work might not be up to your standards. Some of the old pictures I've seen left a bunch to be desired in the fit and finish department. Might want to ask for plenty of pictures inside and out...

I just noticed the rear doors are nothing like the front ones! I assume they are from an earlier model? I notice exterior hinges, hmmmm.

Yep by saving and blowing the photo up it appears that youcan see the point on the corner of the hood marking it as a 1-1/2 ton or larger.
The bumper is the other key, 1 ton and smaller run the pickup style bumper while 1-1/2 ton and larger have the big heavy bumper.

Re: Crew Cab AD, Heard of these, never seen one for sale

The hood also looks thinner as the bottom line goes up with a more square corner on it below the emblem unlike the one on the roof which is a 1/2-3/4 ton. Learned that right here on the forum a while ago. I knew the hoods were different but not how. I have an NOS hood moulding for the big truck. Being my hood will be sectioned it's the perfect one to modify.

Looks like 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton are 72 5/8" across the fenders.

Re: Crew Cab AD, Heard of these, never seen one for sale

Here is a picture I found quite a while ago that shows a crewcab built out of a cab over. The picture may have been in a catalog showing what the conversion company could build.

The rear door almost looks like a panel truck rear door. It may even be from a different brand of truck. Did you guys notice how they built the cab over the existing gas tank on the drivers side?

That thing is way to cool not to be saved and brought back to life. I would love to fallow a build thread on this thing!

It looks like the back door (the one that doesn't open) is exactly the same as the one on the other side just without hinges. You can even see the line where the door is just bolted or welded on.

i don't think that body is worth saving. you'd be better off building a buggy2 version.
