Inmemory of my dad
I have been building a 1968 GMC and I am making it into the style of a shop truck , using my late fathers contracting logo on the door. I was looking at some of the tailgates that I have saved over the years that have chevy logo stamped on them and started to think that I would use the best one on this truck and just make it smooth as it is not a Chevy. I thought of doing my last name on it and thought I would get your thoughts on this before I spent my time doing the work here is a pic of the door and the gate

It would definitely be something different, and if you are building it to keep, the value aspect of doesn't really matter. It be even be cool to somehow integrate "Custom" into there somehow to match the doors. A GMC Custom emblem under the stamped letters might look pretty good. Either way, it would look pretty cool.
Its cool that it is a Canadian "910" model. That looks so out of place, but so cool for those of in the States.

Awesome idea! I say do it for sure. Like the others, it could always be swapped out later and used for wall art. Hmm, not a bad idea either. I bet that "A" could be notched easily to look like factory. Cool idea

That will be very cool.
For some reason, I have always enjoyed when people rearrange the letters on their ride to spell different things...the kids in the early 90's with their low rider Mitsubishi's were the best.

I also agree, go for it. I too was thinking that you could use part of a fender emblem for the custom. Or just the last name like you have laid out. I really like the idea. Super cool and would love to see the finished product when and if you do it. Keep us posted.

what a bunch of work! I just painted the A to see how much would be left on the inside. I think if the line was low it wouldnt match and look odd? So I have left it for now.This is what I have done for today

Very creative and it looks like its gonna be sweet. I lost my best friend aka Dad 12 years ago and put his name on my passenger side door stenciled. You took it to a whole new awesome level.

sanded it all down and sprayed some primer on it to keep it from flash rusting. Untill I can learn how to spread body filler it will stay this way for a while.
