47-54 Chevy GMC Flatbead 1 Ton Factory

47-54 Chevy GMC Flatbed. Very hard to find original flat bed. Curved sides (vertically) and curved corners. This has bed strips like a stepside box. They look great when nice custom bedwood is added and chrome or stainless strips are added. All of the cross members are solid except for one which will be an easy repair. Few dings around the side edges . The back where they loaded from has a few more dings but very restorable and showstopper when finished. Removed from a 48 1 ton (not 1 1/2 ton) . $550 Local Pickup Only. Cell 402 643 5369 Thanks

I would really like to have this for my '50 dually but no way I can come pick it up. I hate it when the things I need are tooo far away!

Re: 47-54 Chevy GMC Flatbead 1 Ton Factory

I know what you mean . I have a lot of large parts that I do not even advertise as shipping usually kills the deal. It is kind of bad both for the buyer and seller.

The bed has since been sold. I listed it on here for a while hoping it would sell. It did not . So I put it on evil bay and it sold fairly quickly. I wish it was the other way around . I would rather support this site.

Thanks , good luck with your truck. Paul

Re: 47-54 Chevy GMC Flatbead 1 Ton Factory

Thanks for posting all the pics. I'm getting a 1953 3800 1 ton dually next week and I think it has the same bed on it. Nice to have the pics as a reference. See you did help out the forum.

Mind me asking what the ratio was on that pumpkin and how much it went for? I will be looking for one with 4.10 gears if you run across another.

Oh yeah,

I'm sure you already know that the 4.10 is usually in a 67-72 C20, V8, Auto, with coils in the back.

Re: 47-54 Chevy GMC Flatbead 1 Ton Factory

This is kind of an old post . Both the bed and the center pumpkin of the rear end have been sold . The rearend pictured was removed from a 71-72 Chevy 3/4 Auto with 4.10 gears . I just got in another 71 with a 4.10 rear . I am aware of the different housings from different years. Thanks , good luck with your truck.

LOL I didn't even notice the old date. Oops

That being said, are you parting out the '71? If so, how much for the Eaton 4.10 pumpkin shipped to 32097?

Thanks,

Larry W.

I hope I didn't offend with the info on the rear end source? Definitely not my intention.

Thanks.

I think the last one sold for $350 but was able todo local pickup . Shipping large heavy items has become very expensive. Pretty sure it would be over a $100 . Usually kills the deal. Thanks

Ouch! Didn't know that particular pumpkin was going that high. I guess if I re-gear, I'll have to look at a whole dually rear out of a little later model. I've seen them on Craigslist going for $400 to $450 with tires. Given how hard the brakes are to find on that HO53 / 72, I think I'd be better off to modernize a little.

Thanks for your responses and the pictures of the bed were nice to see.

Re: 47-54 Chevy GMC Flatbead 1 Ton Factory

I should add that the 4.10 ratio is what sells it. I sell the higher ratios for a lot less . Yes the late model rear ends can often be picked up pretty reasonable. But then you end up with driveshaft issues which is not cheap either. The ones I sell that usually go directly into the rear housing without any mods and can be done in a couple hours . Thanks
