Thumbs down 70Blackfish

Back in February of this year I was responding to an ad in the classifieds here regarding a 6 Cyl tach for sale. I received a private message from 70Blackfish stating that he has a 6 cylinder tach he wanted to sell.

I agreed to the purchase price of $100 including shipping. I sent him the $100 via Paypal plus an additional amount of $3.29 as a courtesy to cover his paypal fees.

Since I am Canada I had it shipped to my shipping address in the US to alleviate the hassle of customs that occur when shipping to Canada. I travel to the US from time to time to pickup parcels I have shipped as they accumulate. I had just missed the shipment of the tach since it took alot longer then expected to arrive. It was April until I was able to retrieve the parcel.

I had inquired prior to purchase if there was a stamping on the back and the seller stated:

"I dont see a 6 on the back,
what i do know is, i got it from a friend who had it in his 6 cyl truck,
I had gotten my trk, it had a 6 so i bought it from him, he switched to a v8, then I ran it for a year, then switched to a v8 also and swapped the tach out. I never ran it in there with a 8."

Upon opening and inspecting the tach I notice that it is stamped faintly with a 8 cyl marking on the back. I informed the seller immediately that is was marked as an 8cyl tach, he responded with:

"Sorry. I had it with a 8 cylinder. It read low. Send it back and I will send you a refund. "

Prior to sending it back I did test it on my 8 cylinder Blazer that has a factory tach and the tach that was sold to me as a 6cyl tach read the same as the tach in my Blazer.

I sent the tach back expecting a refund as promised. After waiting a week after the tracking showed it was delivered I had not received a refund so I inquired to see if it was received and the seller stated it was:

"HI, i did receive it, i have been busy and not been able to test it to make sure it still works"

So I give him another two weeks and today he responds

"So PayPal tells me after 60 the sale is complete and no refunds. I sold you a working piece. To test this I have to drive 50 miles to my friends 6 cylinder truck. To drive this far sucks for 100.00 tach over 90 days later. I do not have the time to do. "

So in the end he has had both the tach and my money for the past 3 weeks
I am out $103.29 for the tach plus the $8.76 to ship it back to him because he sold an 8 Cylinder tach as a 6 Cylinder tach.

Re: 70Blackfish

Did you mention he could hook it up to a 6 or 8 cyl to verify if it works? It will just read different, but will still read. If he admitted he recieved the tach, he should refund the money since it wasn't described correctly anyhow.
Good luck.

Re: 70Blackfish

Here is a picture of the back of the tach. I took it to see if I could adjust the contrast to show the 8 Cyl marking which I couldn't but it does show a portion of the part number which does correspond to the V8 tach part number of 6468228

The 6 Cyl part number is 6468321.

I guess it should have been a red flag when the picture he sent of the rear before I purchased was blurry enough to not show any markings.

Good luck.

He seems to have it stuck in his mind that this is a 6Cyl tach but I will give that a try.

Re: 70Blackfish

I was prepared to keep the tach and sell it but to be honest the face of the tach is in pretty crappy condition so I was doubting I could recoup my money on it.

Re: 70Blackfish

I hope you get your money back. Heck...50 miles...100 mile round trip...wouldn't even be 3/4 of a tank of gas used. So...I don't see the big deal about going and testing it...heck...I drive 60 miles one way to Medford sometimes....still come home with about a 1/4 to 1/2 tank...doesn't cost 100 dollars to fill a tank...unless yer crazy about running 92 octane in a modern car made to run on 87. lol

Re: 70Blackfish

Four weeks he has had the tach back now and no money.

Told him I will be I will be filing a police report if the money isn't returned by the end of the day.

For those in the Simi Valley area if you ever run across a edited by staff selling parts, start running the other way.

Re: 70Blackfish

Well I guess that worked, must not be too fond of the possibility of a police visit.

He sent me $100.00 Not the $103.29 I sent him but whatever, in all it cost me at least $20.00 dealing with this buffoon and he still doesn't show any remorse.

Re: 70Blackfish

this guy is FULL OF BS. sold the tach in FEBRUARY, first contact from him after the sale was 4-29-14

i sold him a tach in February that much is true.
he said it wasn't right, he was unhappy with it....SO i said send it back.....it worked great on my 6...but whatever send it back... march, APRIL

2 months go by and i never received the tach nor any response from him...SO I contacted HIM ASKING, SO WAHT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THE TACH? I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM YOU? he replied Im going to send it back...then I get it back from him late late JUNE........

pay pal told me NO REFUNDS AFTER 90 DAYS.......

this guy edited by staff is a JOKE...!!!!!
Notice he says back in February, but starts a post IN july.......you can call me anytime you have my number...but he never did...I go out of town a lot for work. not married to my computer. I have sold and bought A lot on here its a great website with the exception of this guy GREG!!! in the end he had MY TACH for over 100 days and then demands a speedy refund...I still haven't tested it.
I gave a refund because i felt sorry for the guy...i feel after hime having it that long i didn't have to....i told him all about it before i sold it to him sent pictures, I can't and still can't see A number on it.
but i got it as A 6 cylinder tach RAN it then i swapped to a v8 in my truck and no longer needed this 6 cylinder tach. he didn't like the looks of the face he posted here, but never said that to me. thats the reason he wasn't happy I'm betting.....

Re: 70Blackfish

You are exaggerating a bit on some time lines, yes it did take bit of time for me to receive the tach and I explained that in my post. I have all the emails as proof but it doesn't really matter now since my money is refunded.

I started a post in July because you weren't refunding my money after receiving the tach back. The excuse that you were away won't work very well because you were active and posting on the board nearly everyday during that time.

I would have gladly kept the tach and changed the face out on it if it was indeed a 6 cyl tach. If you would take the time and review the posts above you can see how I confirmed it is not a 6 cyl tach, besides the 6 cyl marking that is visible if you look hard enough.

Re: 70Blackfish

Between the two of you, there should be proof of times via email stamps or pm etc.. Feel free to fwd them and or post the time stamps with personal info blocked out.. As of now this thread is a complete he said she said of emotion.

Re: 70Blackfish

I don't think there really is any need to further rehash everything. I think it is quite clear in the facts I have already presented. I have numerous emails, some lengthy and at this point it would be just a waste of time on everybody's part to post them. It would take me an hour just to go through them and post them and it would take who ever is reading them 1/2 hour to figure things out.

If anyone wants further proof, which I doubt then they can send me a pm and I will forward the emails.

Main thing is I have my most of my money back now and that's fine with me.

Re: 70Blackfish

I don't need proof, nor am I taking sides. My point is he has one story, you have another, neither provided proof of what actually happened.
