2007 Trailblazer tune up?

Well I hate working on any of the new vehicles, but its time to tune the wife's Trailblazer.

So you guys with experience tell me what I need to pick up to give it a tune up. Its the 6 cyl version. Plugs, what else? O2 sensor? There is a check engine light on. I could probably take it over to Napa and have them tell me what the light is. Did I mention I hate working on new stuff?

Tune ups on those are pretty easy. Just spark plugs and an air filter. I would highly recommend ac delco double platinum or iridium plugs.

Yep, plugs, air filter and fuel filter. These chew up coils. Let me know what your code turns out to be.

Plugs, filters, then take it to your local dyno-tuner to reprogram the computer to really make it feel like you did an engine swap. If you are on a ‘stock’ computer tune you are missing so much..

This is just a plain jane 6 cyl would this really make a difference, and what does something like this cost?

It has 130K on it.

There is NO fuel filter to replace. Pull that of the list.

Re: 2007 Trailblazer tune up?

Changed the oil, oil filter, air filter. Washed and vacuumed. Filled up the tank and added a can of the Seafoam. Had the code checked and it was something about the catalytic converter, reset the code. Put in 5 new spark plugs. Cant get the rear most one out, its way under the stupid cowl. Ill figure it out later =) Put on new wiper blades. I think she is ready for winter.

Re: 2007 Trailblazer tune up?

Get that rear plug changed. I use a shallow socket with a 3" extension all in 1/4" variety then after it's unthreaded use a piece of 3/8" fuel hose to pull it out

P0420- cat conv efficiency low, bank 1. It may need scanning to see if converter is weak or if upstream O2 is slow mimicking the downstream sensor. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a gm converter fail. I don't have proof but I suspect it's small amounts of dexcool leaking into cylinders and killing converters
