Hello everyone, I have a 68 c10 short bed fleetside. Im in the middle of a frame off restoration, I have a Chris Alston 4 link put in, I also have a 454 30 over, when said and done it should be around 600HP. Im wanting to put 17s on the back for tires. 4/6 Drop. What is the size of the widest tire I can put? Also does anyone have any knowledge on Tubbing? if I go that route I want to tub as minimal as possible, I guess overall I want the best traction for that HP, without making things look too drastic. if anyone has done something similar.

Not sure how wide you can go, but quite a few people have widen their wheel tubs with stock tubs, looks sharp IMO.

Check out "no limits" web page. They did a truck but changed rear frame railes. I have 33x18 slicks for my truck. But I am narrowing the frame. The frame is 38" wide at the widest part. That can limit the width of the tire you can run. Are you looking to just put in wheel tubs and run the widest you can fit? I think you can fit a 31x14 with the right wheel offset with just tubs.

Here's what I did on my stepper. I'm running 18x12's, overall width with 335/30/18's is about 13.5" wide. Without any tubbing/cutting, there isn't a whole lot of room back there, you're probably looking at maybe a 9.5" or squeezing a 10" wheel in there if you trim the fender lip - but don't quote me on that, I planned on cutting mine from the beginning, so I never tried either one of those sizes. I'm strictly going off what I saw when I initially put the 18x12's on. The pic with the bed & cab (rear view) is with the stock width '69 rear end and 7.5" of backspacing on the rear wheels. I probably could've gotten away with making the inner wheel wells a little narrower, but I cut them where I did to make it easier on myself welding the tubs back together.
