Motor for my 71 short

I found a 327 long block that looks clean in and out. Casting number is 3782870 and it has 461 double humps. It is said to be running good and from a 65 vette. The numbers help lean to believe him.I can get it for $650. Do you guys think it's worth a shot.

Re: Motor for my 71 short

If those heads havent been gone through and had hardened seats put in them itll likely need that in the future. Looks like a pretty clean motor. The only reason I mention the heads is I bought a similar motor last year and it ran good but the valves were pretty deep into the seats when we took it apart to freshen it up.

The fresh paint makes it looks great. I'll get the intake and valve covers off Saturday and see if it's as clean as he says. He seems pretty honest.

'65 Corvettes had at least a few different engine options. No doubt it's been rebuilt so there's no telling what the innards are like. Verify as much as you can.... might need to change a thing or two to make it a good truck engine. And x2 on hardened valve seats.

Re: Motor for my 71 short

Yeah I think there were 5 options. 250hp up to 375. 10-4 on the valves. Thanks for the input.
