67-72 Hood latch ... with cable?

Guys, I tried a search but I didn't come up with anything.

I am looking for a replacement kit, or conversion kit, for our hoods where we can pop it like a normal hood from inside the cab prior to popping it in the front.

IE: My 84 has a latch where I pull it from inside the cab, then pop it from the front and lift up.

I want this for my 69. I don't like that we have trucks where someone can rob us of a battery, carb, alternator in seconds.

I haven't been robbed, but I don't want it to happen when I'm out and about, ya know?

I live in a small town, where this probably won't happen - but if I drive to Austin, Dallas, etc ... it's always a possibility.

Re: 67-72 Hood latch ... with cable?

theres a thread on here somewhere where somebody does that.

The PO of my truck just welded 2 chains to the inside of the hood and padlocked them through the frame. Worked but you had to kneel down and unlock it to open the hood and you could hear the chains banging around all the time.

Re: 67-72 Hood latch ... with cable?

Normal? It's normal to open a hood standing in front where you need to be anyway. At least it was normal till later on when they got the bright idea to use a cable to pop from inside. I was just cussing this set-up last week when I couldn't open the hood on my '95 to put oil in it. Might as well had someone steal parts from under the hood (I assume that was the thinking behind this) because I couldn't go anywhere till I got that hood open. Not telling anyone what to do with their truck, but no thanks here. These trucks were built right and I like them that way

Amen Tim...I broke a cable on my 89 once, man that wasn't fun. Sometimes simple is best for me.

If they want it bad enough, they will brake in to get it. Just keeps the lazy ones out lol. It's an interesting idea but I'm with Tim as well. The simplicity of one lever.

Shouldn't need permission. It is in the FAQ forum. That is weird. Try typing "In-Cab Hood Release" into the Google search box at the top of this page, click the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com" and click on the Google button. See if it comes up that way.

I get the same thing even when I try to click on Putter's link from Lemield's link. Lemield's link opens just fine, but Putter's link says I don't have permission.
