Brake pedal travel adjustment

Hey guys! Just got my C10 today and my brake pedal was really far out, it is manual brakes. I have to keep my foot on the brake pedal but it is light and soft which triggers the brake light so it stays on while driving. Is there anyway I can adjust the travel? Thanks guys!

Fix the brakes. Either you have a leak, need to exchange the fluid or your pads/shoes are worn out. You can't adjust the pedal for feel.

If you have a problem with the brakes (and I guess you do based on the soft pedal), going to power won't make it any better. How does the fluid look?

your pedal looks way too high off the floor.
i bet your missing the square bracket that has the pedal bumpers on it.

Re: Brake pedal travel adjustment

The factory service manual has a very good section on pedal travel and how to adjust. This is assuming everything else is working correctly. I recommend getting your system up to snuf and upgrading from there. A stock system in great shape will stop your truck so fast it will be scary.

I stand corrected. I didn't realize their was actually an adjustment on the brake pedal. But like you said, it's for travel. It won't correct a soft or spongy pedal.

It's soft till about half way(probably where the brake pedal should actually be)then it has resistance like a normal brake should feel. Will check the manual to see what I can do. Thanks guys!

Re: Brake pedal travel adjustment

Install the missing bracket first, then go from there.

Re: Brake pedal travel adjustment

Yes, it is the plate that has the two rubber pedal bumpers on it.

Look at this thread. The second picture is the plate you're missing.
