In need of some opinions on Brakes
Finishing up my brakes and need help in deciding to go with manual or power. I have 14"
6 piston in the front and 13" 4 piston Corvette C6 Zo6 brakes in the rear. The truck is a weekend cruiser with a single turbo ls1. I currently Have a 7" dual diaphragm booster but quite a few people are telling me not to bother with it because of the size. Do you think a booster is necessary with the size of my Brakes? The master cylinder mounted directly to the firewall does look a lot cleaner. Any input is greatly appreciated thank you |

It's personal preference whether you want a booster or not. What is more important to you; under hood appearance or reduced braking effort?

I have factory disc/drum and went with an 11in booster with the bracket. I am extremely happy with the swap. It takes practically no effort to brake, I could easily brake with one finger if I wanted. I was told by my auto instructor that the 7in would have been fine but I already had the order placed so I kept the 11in. Before the swap I had to push so hard I would sink into the seat and didn't really like driving it like that. Now if I could just do something about that stiff a$$ clutch lol!

I put new brakes top to bottom on my truck and installed a booster. It was nice to have.

How about a hydroboost setup. Great braking power and a lot cleaner than the factory setup.

I prefer manual.
Because, I get a better feel from the pedal of what is going on and if a brake booster goes out... you have very very little brakes... and that's sucks! I personally prefer manual in a performance application.

With those huge disc's front and rear your breaking effort is going to be very low without any type of brake assist , you dont need the booster . Your truck should stop on a dime and give 9 cents change without a booster , I just had an issue with hydroboost that I bought from a guy on ebay , it foamed and bubbled my stearing fluid , so I went back to a 7 inch double diaphragm with drums,,, works well for now ,, im putting front disc's on . The only older veichcal I have owned with4 wheel disc's was a camaro , it stopped NOW
