blazer top rail holes?

Bought a 72 blazer without a top. The top bed rails appear to have way too many holes for whats necessary to mount the top. I need to know what ones I need to fill to make it correct. The ones with the captured nut are a no brainer but how many others are there. A picture would be nice.

One set is for a single wall and the other set is for a double wall.

Re: blazer top rail holes?

Most 72's have a single wall top that bolt from the top down so you need the ones with the caged nut. Double (had single here) wall top bolts from the bottom up and would need the thru holes so it will depend on which top you have.

Re: blazer top rail holes?

If you are going to use a soft top, you may need more of the holes. You should make sure you know what top(s) you are going to use before filling the holes.

Re: blazer top rail holes?

My 72 has a double wall.

But agree, it could be multiple things. Single, double, or was drilled for a soft top.

I agree with the others. 1972's are unique, they have hole for both double and single wall tops.

Not all 72's have this feature.

Re: blazer top rail holes?

Are there pins in the top to help line it up with the bed rails and how many total holes are there for both type tops.

Re: blazer top rail holes?

My 72 only has holes for a single wall. I've never see them with both unless someone modified the holes. More than likely it was done because they couldn't find a single wall so they stuck on a double wall which are easier to find and as simple as drilling some holes. The original holes are also oval shaped for adjustment.

My 72 has both from the factory. Owned it since 1990.

Re: blazer top rail holes?

How many factory holes are there so I can eliminate the ones that aren't needed.

Re: blazer top rail holes?

My 71 with a double wall top has 6 holes on each bedside. Each 13" apart.
