Post '59 Apache: Need help with Front Cab Floor support Brackets

Does anyone know how to replace the front cab floor support brackets in a 1959 Chevy Apache stepside? I think they are also called Front Cab mounts maybe. I have the assembly manual and can't find anything about them.

Thanks,
Stan

Cut yours out, I think they are spot welded in there. So you may have to use a wire brush on the inside of the floorboard to see the spot welds and drill them out. Use a pry bar and start working.

So are they spot welded to the floor pan or the crossmemeber? Meaning do the just rest on the crossmember?

Re: '59 Apache: Need help with Front Cab Floor support Brackets

They are spot welded to the firewall/toeboard (actually the firewall/toeboard is spot welded to the crossmember). However, the floor is also spot welded to the firewall/toeboard just behind it, so you will likely have to drill those out to. I just replaced my firewall/toeboard with a new one from Dynacorn (excellent fit), but since I still had great front mounting pads and crossmember, just cut the new one out around them and flush welded - now much stronger than original. Cheers, Jim
