How tall are your tires

I have a 68 GMC and I want to use 18'' wheels and 255/55 r tires . I think these are 29'' tall . Is this to tall ? I have a 354 rear gear and will be using a 700r4 transmission . I want a tire that has some sidewall and use the same size front and back.

Re: How tall are your tires

You didn't say if you had a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton truck nor did you say if it was stock height or lowered...

My truck is lowered 4 1/2" front and 7" rear with a leaf spring flip. I have 27" tires in front, and 29" in the rear. Mine on 17" wheels. I think it's a great height for the rear, but probably too tall and wide for a lowered truck in the front.

235 55 17 front and 275 55 17 rear. 17x8" 4.5" bs front 17x9" 5" bs rear.

29" sounds just right. Just don't know what you have.

Re: How tall are your tires

Sorry I left out a lot of info . I have a 68 gmc 1/2 ton swb lowered six inches in rear and four in front .I would like to keep the tires all the same . I haven't got the wheels yet just trying to find out what others had that work . 17 or 18s will be ok .
