Passing Gear Cable Help

Ok Guys I need help! Quick intro- this is a 1969 c10 stepper that belonged to my dad for a decades before he passed when I was 10 in '98. Since it has traded hands twice because family illegally sold it and I recently located it and purchased it back last month.

Tranny is a TH350

When I got it back it had a 2barrel Rochester that wasn't worth poo so I bought another intake w/ a Rochester QJet [I believe it's a 1978 QJet (17058222)]

Two questions...

What can I do to get the "kickdown" or "TV" or "passing gear" cable to reach? It's about 2-3" short of the carb where it suppose to sit.

Second.

What can I use to lock the accelerator linkage onto the carb? Sorry if I'm not using tech terms.

I will like to enjoy the truck this week so any help or suggestions will be great!

Re: Passing Gear Cable Help

When i changed to an edelbrock carb, I had to buy an adjustable bracket to make the linkage work.
There were two brackets that edelbrock made, one positioned the carb and kickdown almost above and below each other, one spaced them out. This may not be correct but it seems like the part numbers were 8036 & 8039. Look up carb accessories on the edelbrock web site.
Also, there is probably a factory bracket for the quad, but good luck finding one.

Re: Passing Gear Cable Help

for a stock manifold you can use this :

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-8031/overview/

or if you want to keep it original :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-70-71-72...dd648c&vxp=mtr

however you should already have that one on your truck. can you take a pic of the bracket that the kickdown cable is attached to now?

you may also have a binded up old cable and that may be why it's not reaching forward enough to hook to the linkage. They are $20-$30 and readily available from online and local parts houses ect.

Re: Passing Gear Cable Help

they have adjustable linkage for the kickdown cable at oreillys in the performance section where they sell the holley carbs and crome cover and such. i paid 12.00 for mine
the throttle linkage lock piece will most likely have to come from a truck with a v8 engine. im sure youll find one in the parts for sale section
