The Frisco Kid

67 Suburban originally from Frisco, Texas hence the name. This is my company truck.

Originally that seafoam green color, now tan and white painted with a brush who knows when. Interior is pretty complete.

Finally got it up and running. It had overheated and had a cracked head. I found another 292 and bought it for the head. Found it was also cracked! Found a third running 292, bought it and installed the running engine. Runs good for now and stole the best bits from the other two engines.

Re-cored the original radiator. Seems cool to the touch but gauge not yet working so that repair is on the list.

New brakes including shoes, drums, hardware. Stops straight.

4 new matching tires. Made by Tornell. Hecho en Mexico. A perfect fit!

Replaced tailgate and hatch weatherstripping so it is a quieter ride and will leak a little less.

Re: The Frisco Kid

Very cool!

Interesting. The engine compartment is 503 green, where as the interior is fawn.
Never seen a green 67/68 with a fawn interior, can you tell if it was green at one time and someone repainted it?

Re: The Frisco Kid

Vectorit - This thing looks to have always been fawn interior. Zero evidence of interior being repainted.

Advanced - I have had it a few years but it has been in storage. And was always stored since coming north.

A few more photos.

Re: The Frisco Kid

And a few more interior fotos for Vectorit.

Next order of business is to get the three on the tree shifter linkage to work better. It works OK but is sometimes sloppy as in doesnt want to go in first.

Re: The Frisco Kid

I love the way it sits now, with the OE wheels/caps and mirrors.
But I am one of those that prefers the original configuration.

I can see the green coming though in the jams, but you are right it looks like it is an original fawn interior.

Excellent looking 1967 Suburban!

Re: The Frisco Kid

Yeah I like the original look too and have no plans to lower, etc. I may fix a few holes and gaps at the roof and roof rail and repaint the top in white. I would also paint the rims white if I could find some correct 67-68 silver or chrome hubcaps.
