What is this?

This was mounted just behind the rear differential and mounted in the same holes as the fuel tank skid plate. Is it factory? Purpose? I'm lost on why its on there.

I don't think it's factory. It was probably part of a trailer hitch.

Thanks, I was pretty sure that it was junk, but never want to throw something away unless I'm sure its junk. I hadn't thought about it being part of a trailer hitch. It's going in the junk metal pile.
