power steering box rebuild

I'm back in Columbia SC, from Germany, for good this time. Had to go with a different name because when I retired from active duty, I had to change emails, and my DA self couldn't figure out how to log in. nuff said.
I've seen before what it takes to put new seals in my power steering box, and if I recall it was pretty straight forward. Anybody out there done it recently? Is there someplace I could see a step by step on this. I have the seal kit ready. Thanks in advance.

Re: power steering box rebuild

I have a problem with that thread. First, you can't properly set the preload on the worm gear with the sector shaft in place. The preload on the worm is essential to getting a tight box with no slack. Also it is very easy to remove the spool valve with the adjuster plug. BE VERY CAREFUL! The spool valve has to be aligned with two tabs and a very small pin on the worm.

I believe the overhaul procedures are all in the service manual.
