Power Brake Swap Question..

Hi All,

I have a 1970 C-10 SWB 4x4 and want to see what you guys think of a power brake swap that I want to do. I bought both axles from a 1974 blazer and are in great condition. I have a friend that will sell me the whole brake system off of a 2003 suburban for $100 bucks it includes everything from booster to pedal to brake lines. How hard if any will it be to do this swap the whole brake system. Let me know. Thanks.

Re: Power Brake Swap Question..

That should be a hydro boost brake booster, you'll need a power steering pump for that in case you dont have power steering.

Re: Power Brake Swap Question..

i already have a steering pump but i'm kinda lost what would the function of the steering pump have to do with the brakes?

If it's hydroboost (which I doubt the suburban is unless maybe a 2500) it uses hydraulic pressure from the PS pump instead of a vacuum source like on traditional power brake setups.

I doubt it also, i looked around last time i went and i can remember that it had a hose most likely the vacuum hose connected to the intake, but not to the power steering.

Re: Power Brake Swap Question..

I currently have two HALF ton Suburbans on my yard right now a 2002 and a 2004 and the both have hydroboost systems. So I am not posting out of turn when I say it could have a hydro boost system. I also have a 2002 three quarter Suburban and it also has the hydro boost but that is not crazy cause the 3/4 tons I've junked had the same set up I have like five of those.
