center cosole straps

Both of my center consoles have broken limit straps for the lids. Are these reproduced? I have not been able to locate them anywhere.

Re: center cosole straps

I've been looking myself. I kinda gave up looking and I've been thinking about just using electrical wire but I'm concerned it will not fold up and interfere with the lid closing.

Re: center cosole straps

I had also thought of using electrical wire and fittings originally but figured with the copper wire & copper ring terminals that it would not last long at all.

Well while in my stock room last night I came across some stuff that I had bought for a sign hanging project that failed to materialize so I got digging further and found some ends that look like they will work as well. What I got was black plastic coated stainless steel wire and I was able to find some steel ring terminals. Luckily my old cable was still there it was just broke in the middle so I could use it for a pattern. I think it turned out nice. I probably have enough material to make 20 more. If there is any interest I will figure up what I would need and start a sale thread. It is not an exact reproduction though, the cable finished size is a little bit larger and the terminals are not quite as heavy duty.

Re: center cosole straps

If you decide to sell some, I'd buy one. Looks pretty close to the original.
