Our old tailgates don't come off as easy as the new ones. You may be able to get it on the 67-72 but it wouldn't do anything since ours don't lift off.

They don't, Jason? My wife keeps telling me my memory sucks, she must be right.

I haven't owned a 67-72 since the 90's, (about to change that), but I would have sworn fleetside tailgates came off by opening them to a 45 degree angle, then pulling up and out.

Do 67-72's have to be unbolted or something?

Here's how the lock works on newer trucks.

Thumbs up Re: Does anyone know if these work on our tailgates?

To get the hinges off you have to put them on a 45* angle but you cant just walk off with it like on the newer models.
Read this link.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

The 73-up truck tailgates come off that way.

thank you all. My 69 will be delivered in a couple of days and I'll be able check these things out instead of asking stupid questions.

Re: Does anyone know if these work on our tailgates?

you can take a die grinder with a cut off wheel and cut a slot at the 45degree angle so you can easily remove your tail gate without unbolting anything and you only have to cut one side usually done on the right side and change the bed side trunion to one like this
