Can't get driver's door to lock

when door is open, key and knob both work fine. When door is closed you can't push the knob far enough down, or turn the key far enough.

I'm thinking I need to maybe move the striker plate? I have no idea which direction though, and I'd hate to screw up the latching of the door.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Yes, I would say you need to move the striker plate out a little. Mark around it with a fine felt tip marker so you know how far you have moved it. Only go about 1/16" at a time and don't let it drop down any.

Re: Can't get driver's door to lock

You can do as Loc Doc suggested or push the door inwards while turning the key and your door should lock. I had the same issue with my truck and that is all I do is put a little pressure on the door as you turn the key and it should lock.

Re: Can't get driver's door to lock

Thanks everyone. I've tried pushing the door with no luck, it's very tight, so I'll move it out a scosh.
