Task Force Sound Insulation

Finally have my '56 C3100 to the point it looks great and is street legal. Mainly only interior left to finish. Went on the maiden voyage and everyone tells me the 350 with dual 2 1/2" exhaust out the back sounds great- but of course inside a cab without no headliner, door trim panels and bare floor- things are a bit too loud and rumbly.

Looking for ideas on the following, would love any input...

1) Sound insulate roof above headliner- am thinking thin double foil sided fiberglass insulation,

2) Floorboard- again thinking foil/ fiberglass insulation covered by mat or carpet.

3) Door interiors- don't know what to do. Opening too small to put in matting, and hesitant to spray anything in that could promote rust.

Please understand that when I bought this truck, someone long ago shot urethane foam into ALL cab cavities. After spending the last 5 years refabricating the A pillars, replacing cab back and roof, etc- I am very sensitive to re-promoting rust!!!

Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: Task Force Sound Insulation

When we do a cab its sound deadener strips about 10" long by 3" wide spacer every 6 - 8" apart. The Thermozite brand insulation. its a polyester fiber foil back insulation, then a floor mat or rug. your never going to get it like a Lexus but it makes it much quieter and much cooler. The strips of deadener change the panel harmonics enough to stop that bell noise the plain cab has. do the doors as well with deadener

Re: Task Force Sound Insulation

"Bell Noise" describes it well. Tap any interior metal with your finger and it resonates throughout.

Thanks for the tip- I searched on line and found this material is quite a bit less expensive than stuff offered at various vendors. Looks like the ticket!
