Pancakes!! Yumm!

Ok. Now that I have your attention. Who is currently sectioning or "pancaking" front crossmembers? I want one sectioned about 1.5" and for reasons beyond my control at the moment I can't do it myself. Sorry for lurring you in with tasty breakfast foods but I need a quick answer. 😎😈

Re: Pancakes!! Yumm!

just curious, whats the purpose of this? Is it the same principle as a drop member?

Re: Pancakes!! Yumm!

Yeah. Kinda the same thing. Lowers the front a little more while raising the pivots of the lower control arms. It helps with some of the angles of the front suspension too.

Re: Pancakes!! Yumm!

What comparison pics would you like? Of the crossmember? The truck is already up in the air with the suspension off.

I'm curious too of what a stock one looks like next to the modified piece to understand where it was modified.

Re: Pancakes!! Yumm!

Dell72, if you look at Pat's pics in post #5 you'll see the section that was taken out. You'll also notice the 1.5" section that had to be filled. 1.5" is a good amount of sectioning because you don't have to move all the steering gear up on the frame to match.
