Porterbuilt c notch with stock shock x member ?s

Anyone have any experience with installing a 2 piece porterbuilt c notch as a stand alone piece. I do not want to get rid of my stock shock crossmember and it seems to interfere with the notch. I already cut the lip off the top and the top piece fits fine. Im just wondering do i get rid of the bottom part of the stock shock x member, or can i mount the notch and put that piece back on over the notch in the end? With that lower piece of x member on the bottom of the frame rail it will be too thick for the holes to line up. I would have cut that bottom half out but i feel like it should probably be there? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
