Post questions concerning upholstery material.....

When buying upholstery material by the yard...is this measured as a running yard or a square yard???

I have a chance to pick up some really expensive material at a race horse deal and wanted to find out about his before hand. It is 58" inches wide, but unsure of the length. The guy selling it is a friend of a friend..(you know the story..LOL) and he stated that it is 11 yards???

Thanks Gang!

My wife the seamstress and my co-mechanic in life says it is by the linear yard. It is usually 60" wide by 3ft = 1 yard.

width varies depending on the actual width of the rol the material is on, yard is linear as previously said, there are many different widths you can get, i had to learn this recently also.
