Exclamation Would you make this trade - poll

Need advice! I was trying to trade my long bed and may end up letting my short bed go instead. Need replies today as this deal takes place tomorrow if both sides agree. Here is the trade… My 1970 CST10 SWB, 350, 350TH, PS, PB, AC, AM FM radio, buddy buckets, CA black plates, uncut and rust free but needs restoration for… 1965 Chevelle Malibu, 2 door, 283, 4spd manual, NO PS, NO PB, NO AC (plane jane). I would say both vehicles are in similar condition… Straight trade.

I will post pictures when I get home from work.

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

Depends on how much you want a coupe. Will you miss the truck if you do it?

But offhand, I'd say go for it...

I would kindly have to say no but that is just my humble opinion. I will forever be a truck guy. But to me as long as it is a you cannot go wrong.

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

I once owned a very mildly modded '65 Malibu, great solid car and one of the last really attractive bodies created by GM. Tough call but I'd say go for it!

I've been the car route....now I'm into trucks. But that's just me-you must decide. Don't go by which one is "worth" more money-wise....go with your heart. The grass is always greener-I'd stick with the truck.

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

I would go for it as well....lot fewer of those nice little malibu's running around than the trucks...particularly in that condition.
PLUS....change is as good as a rest....

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

You have two trucks now correct? If so, and the truck you would be keeping you like a lot, then I would say go for it.

If you don't do it, let me know. I would consider it my self. Even though I am in Nor-Cal and you are in So-Cal.

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

IMO there aren't many classics better than our trucks. That's a sweet Malibu however.

Coincidentally, I had a 72 350 Malibu that was about 85% or better condition. Only had 60K when I sold it. My truck was 70% at best. However, the truck was rust free while the Malibu had some bad spots in the common places (fender, trunk, rear window).......I no longer wanted two classics, and there was no question which of the two would go. Course it didn't have a 4-speed.

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

I really want to sell the long bed and keep the shorty. The short bed is from my home town so it has more sentimental value. I would love to restore it one day. I've had the trucks for some years now and I think I'm just getting the itch and want to change things up. Ideally I want a blazer but nice car would be fun as well. I don't have cash so a trade seems like the only way to go for me. I don't know….

Either way I appreciate the responses. It is helping me out.

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

Nice truck but I would do the trade if it's straight across.
You will still have the longbed truck and a nice classic with a rear seat.
Btw all Chevrolets and that's a nice looking Chevelle, but check for rust and bondo.

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

I would be hard pressed to chose. If you got into a wreck with the cream puff Malibu, parts most likely would be harder to come by. Parts prices also may be an issue with the Malibu.

The Trucks however, esp short box, are becoming quite the attraction. The bright side of a truck to me is the availability of parts being more plentiful.

At least in my humble opinion.

I would be more likely to want to trade off the long bed...

I would trade as well only on the fact that you have another nice truck as well. If it was your only truck I would say no. I like variety of vehicles.

Re: Would you make this trade - poll

I would guess the Malibu is worth more than my truck as they sit. In the long run which vehicle do you think has more value? I know I shouldn't be thinking about it that way but I may lean towards the better financial deal at the end of the day
