exhaust manifold? what am I looking for?

1971 GMC K-1500, Right hand exhaust manifold is cracked. Just wondering what I am looking for, are the ones for a 4x4 different? I see several for Vets not many for trucks.
Thanks

i do know the right side is the expensive side. unless you go with after market.
it should just go of the motor size. 4x4 should not matter

Re: exhaust manifold? what am I looking for?

You can find some good quality used ones, or go aftermarket. I'm not sure of the quality of the aftermarket parts though. 4X4 use straight dumps, and the 2 wheel drives are angled back.

The 4x4 ones are hard to find they have a center exit.

You will find them in LMC catalog for about $139 and others. You might possibly get them through your favorite parts store too. Ebay, etc.
4wd manifolds are straight dump whereas 2wd is angle dump for 67-72 trucks.

Re: exhaust manifold? what am I looking for?

Humm, when i had my exhaust done on my K20 (sbc 350) i had straight dump manifolds hand carried in to a muffler shop replace some aging headers and the muffler shop guy called me and said that i needed the angled dumps, so i went down there and he showed me the interference, i reluctantly agreed to buy different manifolds altho i think a good exhaust guy could have welded something together to get around the engine mount issue. The angled dumps did work out much better.

Maybe the fact my engine in the stock location for the engine mounts are in the rear holes in the frame?

Re: exhaust manifold? what am I looking for?

Just as a quick search. Right hand side manifold with angle dump.

DORMAN pn 674-199

$77.79 from Rockauto
$87.39 + fee shipping from Amazon
$89.95 from Summit
$102.99 from Autozone
$89.99 from Jegs

Similar prices and availability for straight dump manifolds.

I've installed 4 sets of Dorman aftermarket exhaust manifolds in the last ten years on various old truck builds. Never an issue with any of them.

I believe I bought mine (for my K10 w/350) from Advance auto, using one of their many percent off codes
