Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

Need to free up space for a Highlander Blazer project so may need to part or sell the C30. Hate to do it but need to keep the boss happy. What do you think would be a fair price as is intact? I'm definitely keeping the steer wheel.

More pics here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=7355007

Thanks, Pete

Re: Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

I'm not sure on price but it's to original and nice to part out in my opinion. But then again there are some very nice parts on it. To bad the back of the cab is cut up.

Part it? Man, I've been trying to find one of these to rip the big block out of and put a 6cyl in but they just aren't around here.

Re: Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

it sure has a lot of nice parts, but i think you would make more selling complete (not always the case). i'm not an expert on campers, but i would think $6-7k?? sure is a nice rig.

Re: Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

I've seen this in person this rig is super nice. I just love the camper much better on this than my own 72 C30 Cheyenne super Travette built rig. It is so roomy and comfortable. Of course the only con is how much of the cab that's been cut out. Everything throughout this rig is top notch. Ok minus the shag carpet.
Personally I would not take anything below 8k for it. I'd even be sad to let it go for that. A guy could easily get more in that for parts from this thing.
Pete of course if you do decide to part it out I've been saving some money and have plenty of tools. 😉
If a guy wanted a trustworthy rig to cross the country and back I wouldn't hesitate to jump in this thing.

Re: Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

If you have the patience and time to find the right buyer you can get close to $10k imo. It's a very clean and original example of what was really built back then. Think outside the box... Museums, consigners, RV/airstream clubs. I'd sell the house and live in it but I like being married

I agree, I just don't see how you can make more off of selling individual parts versus the whole thing. I do like dieselwrencher's idea...

Re: Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

Thanks for the feedback - please keep it up. Thanks Derrick. Mostly I'm trying to establish a fair market value for the rig as is. I'd like to sell it whole.

I'm reluctant to sell whole however if the valuation is believed to be, say $5k. In that case, it may make sense for me to make use of the front clip, rockers, tilt column, etc. on the Highlander build then sell the motor, tranny, seats, doors, dash pad, etc. Sourcing good OEM sheet metal and the necessary body work for those pieces could be costly. All the sheet metal on the C30 is straight and rust free.

One possibility is removing/swapping a few pieces for the Blazer build (i.e., wood grain panel inserts and steering wheel) and adjusting the sale price. I can see how this would work for a buyer who mostly wants a solid RV and less concerned about the small stuff.

The Highlander should arrive next week and allow me to see what all sheet metal it will need aside from the rockers.

Thanks again. Pete

Re: Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

Lots of good parts, but the mohome section is very nice - overall seems too good to part out. We bought a used 72 C30 with Mitchell mohome body here in NM 13 years ago and traveled almost 90k miles all over the US in it - until finally selling it to a friend this year.

At the same time had another one with only 30k miles but with a different mfr. camper body, so converted it to a nice flatbed with 5th wheel setup and used the cab pass-through opening to include a 36" sleeper behind the cab. It is different, but came out nicely.

These C30s are very strong well-built trucks - for long use better than the C20 and a world better than the C10.

The only one I have is before it was repainted - so it was ugly tri-color then.

But, thanks for the interest. I will take a pic or two as soon as I get it out again and post here.

Re: Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

OK - found one photo of the conversion from motorhome - but shows only the forward part of the truck. Gives an idea of the cab and sleeper arrangement - you can imagine the remainder of the flatbed.

I toyed with building a lower sleeper - cab height - but the roof cutout was already there so went for standing space in the sleeper. For me, it was better than letting go of a rust-free 30k mile truck.

Ouch, Pete - just delivered four nice OE outer/inner fenders down to T Korinek in Mesa a short while ago. I will look - but am thinking mine are all gone. Have been trying to clean such stuff out since the one at the paint shop now is supposed to be my last "project".

Pete,
No sure if this would be relevant or not. But after trying for quite some time I finally sold my 72 Weekender (Cheyenne Super, BB, AC, buckets) for $5000.
The truck was in awesome shape with 60k on the clock and the Camper part was very nice having never been left out in the weather

These are worth $10k to the right person... one who can appreciate and use them like me and has the money to spend, like everybody but me (sometimes it seems ). I'm sure it would sell for $6,500-$8,000. These things will only increase in value as the awareness of all these trucks could be spreads even further. Most start into these for just one type of truck, such as lowered SWBs or 4wds. Once settled into it they look around and the coolness of the full line sets in. For a 67-72 guy or gal there is just no cooler camper than one of these

Re: Hate to part...my C30 72 BB Beaver RV

I agree special-K. Ours sold quickly recently because the buyer knew what it was and liked the style. The truck aspect was pretty much original and rust-free, the camper did have some upgrades and the buyer certainly was in for that price range. In some cases it will just take time to come across the right buyer.
