Re: Donor Frame

Sorry if I don't understand completely but what's wrong with the 68 frame?
I have a 1979 short bed c10 and plan on adapting the stock frame

Nice to meet ya!!

Re: Donor Frame

really nothing is wrong with the stock frame, I have had the truck for 12 or 13 years and have had no suspension issues but it is time to choose between dropping a ton on the old frame or benefitting from a newer frame for long distance travel and comfort. no air or anything like that just creature comforts

Re: Donor Frame

nice to meet you as well, I basically want to make it more roadworthy to haul the Harley in back and go to runs or rallies rolling on a more modern frame and front and rear components. it's a 350/350 combo straight as a string and has been my stress relief for years so I thought Old Yellow needed a frame swap

Re: Donor Frame

I was going to say there are custom frames that have been modified for bags but other than that if it was me and trust me I ain't nothing like an expert lol but I'd make sure it's got some disc brakes and new springs/shocks. Maybe the frame has been blasted and painted even could go as far as changing to power rack and pinion.
Not sure about the more modern frame to swap out, sorry. I'll keep an eye and ear out on this to learn from.
Have a great week sir!!

Re: Donor Frame

I've got two c10s one 79 short bed and a 1970 2wd blazer. I want to upgrade both with better brakes, rack and pinion on the blazer with bags. The short bed just drop spindles and better brakes.

Re: Donor Frame

I am no expert either, we just replaced the leaf springs, coil springs and shocks with heavy heavy heavy duty ones. HEAVY DUTY and it floats like a boat. I totally love it, i live off a county dirt road and wow what a difference. Its a 67 btw. Lisa

Re: Donor Frame

thanks yeah I want to be able to safely get "Pearl" the Harley in the bed of it. but I mostly would like to slide another more modern frame under it and then drop it a little. the pecan wood bed in it currently I did not treat correctly so I'm going diamond plate with d-rings to secure the bike. the frame mod is my biggest question to all
