Rear window trim

My 67 has stainless trim on the rear window rubber. It is separating from the rubber. How would you guys fix this? I've attached a pic showing the trim gap.

Thanks.

Re: Rear window trim

It looks like you have the wrong gasket. There are two different types of trim, one used 67-70, and the other for 71-72. The early trim seated deeper with the bend at 5/8" and the later is 1/4" (I think). Anyway, it looks like you have the later rubber and earlier trim.

Re: Rear window trim

The stainless sits flush everywhere else. Up top though it is way out. I'm thinking a towel, block of wood and some light blows with a mallet might push it in??

Re: Rear window trim

So it was in ok but has worked it's way out? The trim isn't holding it's grip at the flanges. I wouldn't hit it. That won't fix it. You need to remove window and reinstall. Probably need to spred the flanges in that area. Or maybe it's distorted in some way. Inspect and measure to compare to areas that held well.

Re: Rear window trim

Push evenly with both hands straight in. If it won't budge with reasonable force the gasket is bound up behind it and you will need to remove the window to reset it. Luckily the back window is tempered so you can force it out and save the gasket and glass. It's very difficult to get all the stainless to stay in when setting them.
