Yep, another junkyard finds thread.

Ok, 36 degrees in January, northern Minnesota and raining pretty good with a couple feet of snow on the ground. The stage is set... May as well hit a yard I haven't been to for awhile. Went by the scrap pile and something hooked me in for a better look... Just dumb luck I looked as the frame had scrap on top of it and it was sitting on an old jeep chassis. Surely was on its way to scrap until I stepped in. Spent about 3 hours out there, soaked through the carhartt coat, through the flannel and into the t-shirt a little. Had fun, but that was enough. The frame seems to be a 72 shorty. Rough shape, but could be saved. The 67 was a nicely optioned truck but was missing a few parts already. Here are the finds from the day.
Enjoy.

Re: Yep, another junkyard finds thread.

Wow, Eric, looks like you have some good junk yarding up north. All the 67-72s around here are picked to the bone. I see a pair of tow hooks, a possible 350TH/205 adapter maybe? How are the front lock outs/hubs? Looks like some pretty good parts you scored there, congrats !

Good eye. I tried to angle the camera enough so they didn't stand out. (pic added)

Front hubs are aftermarket. Still a few trucks around here, but getting tougher.

And it still has some parts on it. Hard to open doors and hoods with all the wet snow out there.

Re: Yep, another junkyard finds thread.

Either you bought a cheap set of one yr only hooks and got alot of parts free or you bought alot of good cheap parts and got free hooks.
Either way you look at it good score.

Also i suppose either you'll be going back for more 67 parts or that truck was pretty well stripped of alot of useable parts, besides the good stuff you allready got.

Your finds make me wanna go hit up my local spots, winter when not alot of pickers are out is allways a prime time to find good stuff.

Re: Yep, another junkyard finds thread.

Great score...some nice items there.
It looks tho', based on the SPID and the 6 bolt wheels it might be a '70 or older 1/2 ton....although the spid shows a 3/4 ton vin...maybe 2 different trucks combined in the same area?
Either way.....you got it, and a boatload full of stuff with it.
nice find!

The frame I think is a 72 based on the hooks. I did post the frame part number also. All the 4x4 1/2 tons were 6 lug. The glove box door is off a different truck.
