Cool Bench Seat Foam Interchangeability

My old 71'/72' seat foam has holes in in and I was wondering if some of the newer trucks would have the same foam in them.

Re: Bench Seat Foam Interchangeability

I just put in the bench seat foam kit from LMC in my 72 today. Huge improvement! Fairly inexpensive fix too.

Took me about 3.5 hours start to finish, including removing the seat from the truck and putting it back. Order the hog ring plier kit and extra hog rings. They take a few to get the hang of crimping them just right.

Cool Re: Bench Seat Foam Interchangeability

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but there is a salvage yard nearby that I can get stuff from for a very reasonable price and so I was wondering if some of the newer trucks had the same foam.

Exactly HOW inexpensive??? Everyone has different opinions on $$$ value.
The foam pieces I've seen have been around $300-$500, too rich for me...

Yes, "expensive" is relative. The LMC bottom and back kit is $349.

I'm older and have some neck and back issues. I can't drive these trucks without good foam. The $350 is worth it to me. Foam doesn't last forever and picking it up cheap at a salvage yard doesn't guarantee it'll be an improvement.

No , There is no direct interchangeable foam from a newer year truck , you may find some that can be reshaped to fit but it depends on which seat you have in your truck . Use the search box above ^ there are many threads on repairing seat foam .

Any foam deteriorates from sun over time, even if there is a seat cover on it, I would buy new and bite the bullet especially if you drive it a lot.
