Best/Cheapest way to ship a tail gate?

Is it even practical? I just checked Fed Ex and their lowest rate to a destination in my state was $122 !

Re: Best/Cheapest way to ship a tail gate?

I will say this, some businesses have huge shipping discounts, a friend of mine let me use his and shipping cost on a dash went from $80 to $32 or so...

Ok then I will just say "Plus Shipping" and figure out a way to crate it or box it.

Now which link do I use to get the picture to show in the ad?

Ups charges 10 percent or more extra if not fully encased in cardboard. I hear wrapping with a moving blanket and then wrapping in cardboard works well.

Re: Best/Cheapest way to ship a tail gate?

Greyhound is usually cheap on shipping large items, I've had a hood shipped to me via Greyhound.

If you need larger parts (tailgates ect.)check summit racing for the part as they ship for free.

Recently I have used Fastenal and it seemed to be about half of Fed Ex and UPS.

Greyhound and fastenal work well. 1x4 frame with 1/4" osb screwed on both sides would make a strong box. I know it's a hassle.
