Re: WTB 69 and Up Green Steering Wheel

You need to say which green. There was a light green/aqua in '69, 70-72 had a dark green for base models and Olive (dark) for upper level models

Truck is dark green 69 GMC. Original wheel is gone. Would it have been black?

Re: WTB 69 and Up Green Steering Wheel

The steering wheel in the GMCs are the same color as the interior. Unless it had a tilt column then the wheel and column would be black.

Yes. That’s not really what I want. Would go with a repop but have heard that they are really flexy.

Re: WTB 69 and Up Green Steering Wheel

You have several options: hold out for OEM, repo, restore-paint OEM, use a wheel of a different style. I am considering restoring and repainting a wheel to match the one-year only color 69 maroon.

I’d like one that looks close to original.
If the repops are too flexy and OEM is not obtainable, I’ll go with one of the three spoke aftermarket wheels.

Re: WTB 69 and Up Green Steering Wheel

So that Craigslist one is olive. From what I see of your column it is the green, which is where you started but thought I'd help clarify for better results. I take it the '69 GMC is a base trim one. I must have been wrong about 70-72 and it's 69-72 that used that green. I'd call it a kelly green or just a couple shade lighter than the dark green body color. Anyway, that color isn't reproduced anyway, I hope you find a good one.

Thanks. The truck is most likely base, though it’s got A/C, PB and PS options. 505 Paint code.

What color is your dash pad? My 70 gmc has a gold type interior(looks like a dirty parchment) but my dash pad and steering wheel are sandalwood I think. All original and bought from original owners grand daughter.
