New c10 owner with new stereo updates.

So I’m looking to somehow stick two 4” speakers where the 4x10 sat in the dash I choose these Kicker 43CSC44 and will try to fabricate an way to mount them into the dash. I went with the kick panel route and will have the typical 6.5 in them. I have looked and most info I have found seems to be dated. Wondering if someone has done this what I should watch out for or flat out won’t work. It’s the two 4” in dash I’m concerned about. Anyway here is my eye candy.

Re: New c10 owner with new stereo updates.

I can't find the pic, but I mounted a pair of Fosgate Punch 4s on a piece of MDF, made a bracket and installed it under the dash. Worked out well with a pair of 6x9s in the doors (PO had already cut the holes).

This weekend's project is to do the interior on my '72. I'm planning on mounting those speakers under the dash and a pair of Fosgate Punch 6.75" components in RetroSound kickpanels.

Re: New c10 owner with new stereo updates.

I went with two 3x6 speakers in the dash of my Burban. I went with the them instead of 4" as the outside inch of each 4" speaker would have been blocked by the dash. I built an enclosure but was not able to make it fit with the stock radio height. If you had a DIN sized radio you could make it an enclosure and get it to fit in the limited space available. I ended up mounting them to a plate with no enclosure. Post 294 in the link below for a photo and some information.

Not having a smart phone I have no direct experience, but I believe that it matters how the phone is held when the picture is taken. Do a search there is plenty of information.

Re: New c10 owner with new stereo updates.

Greetings down under!

I have kick panels and a bose sub from a tahoe in the locations where the jack and tools were. Sounds great and have bass.

The center speakers will be nice but yes two 4" in an MDF board will be fine. If its an AC truck, you may just want to pass on installing anything there, its really tight...

It’s probably a coin flip and probably sound close to the same. I’m going with the Fosgate, but only because I’m a “dealer” for them.

Think 2 under seat is overkill?

I built a custom box where the gas tank used to be. I used 3/4 MDF and shaped it like the gas tank. Was able to get a 12" shallow mount Pioneer (I like them and they are not expensive) to fit. Had I made the box about 4 inches wider I would have been able to get 2. I was going to re-make the box and do that, but my wife nixed the idea. She isn't bass happy, and said My son's truck (that i got 2 12's in) had way too much bass, so I'm content with just the one...

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
