Interior Trim Strip - Dash to Windshield

I am looking for the interior trim strip that goes on top of the dash next to the bottom of the windshield for 53 Chevy 3100. It also looks like it has the windshield defrost vents in this trim strip. I cannot find this piece in any of the parts catalogs online. Is there a particular name for this trim strip?

Thanks.

Wade

I would think a salvage yard would be the best place but it is out there.

Thanks. I did not realize that this trim piece went all the way around the inside of the windshield.

It survives pretty good in a junk yard as long as the windshield is in. Probably pick it up for $20.

Thanks, there won't be any junk yards around here with parts for a 53 Chevy truck, but I can look when I go to Florida.

HA! These trucks haven't been routinely in junk yards in probably 25 years. The newest one is over 60 years old.

Some of us might have some extras from trucks we have salvaged for parts. From what I have seen they are one of the first parts to come up missing in cabs when you find them.

Shipping from the US to Canada would probably cost more than the moldings in most cases.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

I know of at least a dozen AD trucks and panel wagons in junk yards
within 30 miles of my house and a few more sitting in peoples fields.

I also have the option of shipping parts to our house in Florida. I try to buy the parts for my vehicle projects when I am in the USA whenever possible as shipping is a killer.

If anyone has a spare Windshield Garnish Molding please let me know. Looks like I may also need the front and center headliner bows for a 53 Chevy 3100.

Thanks.

Yeah, I suppose that's accurate in Indiana. In Southern California they've totally disappeared in junkyards. But if that's the case, why'd you ask in the first place? You knew they were there.

I didn't ask. I replied that there was one on ebay and suggested a junk yard because that's what we do around here. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

This is a GMC I don't know if they are the same or if you have found it but this truck has the trim in it.

Re: Interior Trim Strip - Dash to Windshield

Let me look in my stash and see what I have. now I have to remember to do it but I am getting the trail to that shed cleared out enough to get in it. If it doesn't snow tonight. They will be presentable to the point that all you have to do is a mild prep and paint them or I won't sell them. They won't be expensive either. Maybe not 20 bucks but I don't need to get rich of them.

Re: Interior Trim Strip - Dash to Windshield

Thanks everyone for the assistance. I did manage to pick up a set on ebay just a couple of days ago. They were in Canada as well, so shipping was not too bad. I also realized that I need the window garnish for the inside of the door windows and this guy also had those pieces, so I am on to discovering the next piece that I need for the interior.

I have not paid much attention to the interior so far as we have been focused on the frame work and exterior body work, which is now almost complete. Now I am discovering what is missing from the interior and things like rubber seals and gaskets.

I have never seen one of these trucks all fully together so it is all a learning experience for me.

Re: Interior Trim Strip - Dash to Windshield

Mr48chev i would be interested in the interior windshield garnish moldings if you have them. I am also looking for the front metal trim pieces that hold the door frame seal on for a 48 gmc if you have any of them. Thanks
