Where to buy modern day flat-bed?

I have removed the flat-bed from my 67 3500 project because it was jammed right up next to the cab. After looking at it I have decided not to use it because it is so old and rusty. But I would like to know where to buy a modern day flat-bed for this truck. Does anyone know of any such company? I would prefer it to be somewhere around South Carolina.

There are loads of custom shops that do these. When I worked for the county they had a local guy who dis the county’s trucks with utility beds or flat beds. I would think anybody who supplies utility beds can at least point you in the right direction .

CM truck beds seem to be popular around here. There are a couple of places I’ve seen advertising on CL that sell and install them. There are always a few used ones for sale there too.

I saw that CM company. I may go scrounge through a few junkyards first. Someone is bound to have a used one somewhere. These new ones are very costly.

Yikes those things aren't cheap. I've seen package deals with the truck attached for less than that.

I'm sure you can find a used one for much less if you look around for a bit. They come up around here every now and then.

Re: Where to buy modern day flat-bed?

I oversee the up-fitting of most of our mechanic department company trucks at work. You are likely to be between 4-5,000 installed for a quality new flat bed, whether a prefab like CM or a custom fabbed unit the prices around here are pretty comparable. Just last week I got a bid for a custom fabbed unit installed on a 2019 F250, with 2 medium sized boxes installed on it @ $4,500. Without boxes was $4,300. Just a bare 8” CM is right around $3800-4000 without install. The area I live in, deals in these beds pretty extensively between the oil field customers like myself and the farm/ranch customers as well.
They ain’t cheap, that’s for dang sure.

I usually see three or four of them at the local pick and pull. At the Wrench-a-Part they do flat rate pricing and they go for $400. You may want to check your local yards

What is wrong with the one you have? Could it be blasted and refinished then use it? You could probably move it back with you re-install it.

I want one with a headboard. I did not like the existing one that came with my truck in the first place.
And it is old and deteriorated to where It is way too thin on the top metal. Two or three more years and this old metal bed will likely cave in.

How long of a bed do you need? I'm about to pull this one off my 7500 and swap on a CM truck bed to match the other trucks. Built in gooseneck hitch and 2.5" receiver hitch. Looks like you're not too far away either.

~11' overall length designed for a truck with 84" CA

Please don't turn this into a FS thread.

Thanks,

A good welder, a couple hundred bucks in 4” C channel, and some oak rough cut can make a nice bed
