Lowering springs 69 c10

Ok want to lwer my 69 panel some. I know spindles would be best.Other project dragster keeps eating money, so going cheap route.

Whats best drop to give decent drivability with springs only for while . I would like to get a set that can beused later with spindles when money allows. Thinking I read that 2" was about most I could do w/o killing ride. That would give little better look although not exactly what I want in ned.

Suggestions? Who has better quality piece that are not over top on price.

Re: Lowering springs 69 c10

The typical limiting factor when lowering a truck with springs only is the length of the alignment studs on the upper A arm. You know the ones with the shims. As you go lower the A arm has to move out and you quickly run out of stud length as you add shims. I don't know where this limit is on a typical truck. The ride issues and the rubber stops are another issue. Others that have gone this route will likely chime in.
