I am in process of total restoration of my 72 c10 sb. It’s not going to be stock by no means, I have been leaning more and more towards some kind of bucket seats with a console. And the original set up is out of my budget, so what is everyone running? What fits nice into these cabs? Any help would be very much appreciated! Pictures please. Thanks Chuck

They are getting harder to find also, but I like the 88-98 style truck buckets and bench seats, Very comfortable, easy to add in, and pretty cheap. I prefer the 05-98 style buckets. They have more support and you can leave out headrests if you want during the recover of the seat.

I used our era style console between the buckets. Just don't have any final photos of it. Also is shown the split bench set that I used in the truck befor the 96 style buckets.

Thanks Palf70Step, It looks very nice! I didn’t know if the 67-72 cabs were wide enough for those seats. I have a 03 as daily driver and yes that seat is very comfortable, but I was thinking if a person would adapt that seat to the 67-72 to some how possible get away with the built in seat belts. But don’t want to have the seat over powering or covering up where the original belts mounts. I am open to all ideas. Thanks

The 99 and later will fit width wise, but sit very high with most mountings and stick out closer to the steering column/dash than what the early ones do. I am 6'1", so they didn't work for me, but the 88-98 models work great.

I used seat out of a '05 Silverado because of the integrated seat belts and folding center console. Then I had them recovered so cost wise it started to get close to the cost of new aftermarket seats. So you might also want to take that into account if you go that route. I don't have pics of the final install but here is one of the seats out of the truck and one as I was working out the mounting points for the seats.

Are the 05 seats the proper height or did you have to modify for the height? Thanks

I left them the factory height. The reason is that the adjustment track is only about an inch or so above the floor pan. So I didn't have much room to work with. The only real issue I ran into is that since the center console folds down I had to move it forward 2" to allow it to fold. If you take out the fuel tank it would have worked out fine. But I am using that area for my speaker box so I moved it forward. I also added the OEM cup holder to the center console. My current plan is to hang a stereo amp under it so it will have air flow around all of it.

The more and more that I think about it the more that I am liking the seats that have the seat belts built into them, the console and armrest. Thanks for the great information on your seats Peanut74, sounds like you will have a nice cab when you are done with it also.

Thanks, a few other points you will need to be aware of. Since I had to move the seat attachment points for the inside the cab I used body mount washers and underneath I used some 1-1/2" C-channel. I wanted to be sure to stay put if I got into a wreck.

I seen pictures of a truck in which the guy used the back seat out of a Ford King Ranch Pick up in the Western Leather material. Looked super sweet and the topped them off with a blue jean style leather tag embroidered over original King Ranch logo that was in seat. Seat fit good and looked awesome!

I used a bench seat from a mid 80's ford in my C20.... it has a fold down armrest and the backrest folds forward. I took the ford sliders off and made a bracket to adapt the chevy sliders to the ford seat. It allows for a lower and further back seating position than the factory seat. I found another seat just like it and put it in my K20, but swapped it out because seat position was too low for offroad driving. I had trouble seeing over the hood... I really like the ford seat for highway driving, it has a slim backrest so it allows more leg room and steering wheel clearance.

I used seats from a 2010 silverado. Not a roomy as original but i'm 5'10 200 so it's fine.

I am going to look at a set of bucket seats from a Chrysler 300 probably on Sunday and if they work out use possibly the center seat/console from maybe a 03-07 Silverado. But if by chance they don’t work out then go with the Silverado/Sierra 03-07 seats. Appreciate everyone’s response and ideas on this! Thanks
