Correct screw for base of column seal retainer

I purchased two screws from LMC truck for the Column Seal Retainer. They were two small for the application.

The shank, outside diameter is .188 diameter. 16-tpi. Which would make it a #10 sheet metal screw.

It must take a #12 which is .216" in diameter. Any one have a picture of this screw and the length? I will attempt to source it locally.

Re: Correct screw for base of column seal retainer

My truck has the original screws in this location. The threaded portion is 1/2" long, and the head takes a 5/16" socket. The thread minor diameter is .142" and major diameter is .188". The thread pitch is 16 TPI.

One of the screws that secure my fuse panel to the firewall wouldn't tighten up. I had my wife hold a heavy block of steel against one side of the firewall while I hit the other side of the hole with a hammer a few times to flatten the metal back out. The screw tightens up just fine now.

My pleasure, and it gave me something to do while waiting to apply another coat of paint to to something I'm working on. This board sure is a great resource!

pjmoreland beat me to it.

Great idea how to tighten up a hole BTW, didn't know that.
