Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

As time marches on, I'm realizing that I can't restore and keep all of them. I'm thinking about thinning my herd some but I'm hung up on two trucks. Both are projects that will need to be restored. First is a 72 Cheyenne sbw with 402, tilt, posi, A/C in medium olive green. The second is a 72 Cheyenne Super swb with 350, bucket seats, A/C in Hawaiian blue. My thinking is the big block truck is a keeper but it's not a Super and it's green! The bucket seat Super is a rare one with a good color combo but not too many options. Which one do you guys think would be the more desirable truck?

If I could purchase only one, I would buy the big block truck. Probably be hard to part with either one though.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

You probably don't want my opinion since I have never understood the whole "Cheyenne super is holy grail" thing, but I'd stick with the big block truck.
When you compare some plastic interior/door panels to big block muscle, it just doesn't compute with me.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

I'd sell them both and buy a nice 3/4 ton Custom Deluxe. And a house with the leftover $.

I wish I had your dilemma... but if I HAD to choose, I'd go with the Cheyenne - I'm biased toward the big block AND the solid paint, personally. You don't see many solid paint big block swb Cheyennes.
Then again, you probably see equally few deluxe two tone Supers with buckets...
Just has to come down to your personal preference. I don't think you can make a wrong decision in this case
If you truly don't like the medium olive (I LOVE it), then perhaps that should drive your decision.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

Condition is everything.
Which truck will cost you the most in labor and cash?
I like the bucket seats cause I'd spend most of my time driving.
But the bb is awfully tempting.
I would flip a coin, two outta three maybe?

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

At the risk of offending some, I'd keep the BBC truck, and clone it to a Super, and might even put buckets in it (if this is what you want), and have best of all worlds in my mind. I am doing a C20 BBC Cheyenne that way now, and while it is a factory Cheyenne truck with big block, I am adding options I like - AM/FM, Super trim pieces, tilt, sliding rear window, and while it is a factory AC truck, I removed and sold the factory AC pieces and purchased an aftermarket AC system to clean up the engine bay. I am not a purist, and know I will not likely find the exact truck I really want, so why not build what I want. Before someone chimes in about the counterfeit part, I am retaining the original spid, and if I were to sell I plan on providing original glove box door with spid to the buyer. You can always retain original pieces to put back if you or future buyer prefer.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

You could swap the buckets to the BBC truck?

Both have the required AIR which makes the decision harder.
Why keep a green truck? They make good trucks to part out or repaint.
Obviously I am not a fan of green or BBC. LOL
The BBC look cool but like a big dog I don't want to feed one.
My vote is for the SBC w/buckets.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

The thought did cross my mind about cloning it into a Super, but I did just get my bench seat covered in the correct Cheyenne vinyl. Thanks for everyone's input so far. Any more thoughts - does Cheyenne BB trump Super buckets?

Seeing how we are kind of voting. I am a fan of the BB, but Bucket seats and the blue outweigh it for me.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

Original Cheyenne Super with Buckets would be my choice. Any truck I've ever bought whether it had a big block or small block 350, not 307 or 6 cylinder, didn't matter to me. The 481 paint is a great color combo.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

As far as desirability to the masses
I think the blue with buckets would trump green with big block
Sounds like you might be leaning towards keeping the green one since you already did the seat cover.

Both, very nice trucks
And a hard decision selling either, for sure
Good luck on that one

First world problems =) Personally I love the green trucks, all shades. But (always a but), the blue one would be the keeper if I was forced to make the choice.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

that's a hard decision! I think since both of them are highly desireable, I would base it on driver comfort and personal likes in the options. I have been in that spot before, and it was truly a tough decision to sell my 68, and keep my 72. I based my decision on the comfort level and driveability, when I was younger the big block would have won out hands down , but a good running small block does me just fine. at the end of the day, just weigh the differences carefully, and when you make your decision don't look back. good luck, its never easy

Not a BB guy and I like blue so the 350 truck gets my vote.

I'd take a Cheyenne Super over a BB any day of the week, regardless of engine in the Super.

Blue Cheyenne. The big money trucks these days all have transplanted engines in them anyhow with numerous modifications.

Put the Blue truck back to almost original and swap in a LS engine and it will probably be worth double.

I just luv the sound of a BB .. but I also like the buckets so for me its a draw but leaning towards the BB.

Re: Cheyenne 402 vs. Cheyenne Super 350 value?

I don't think at this point BBC vs SBC matters in value. A big block is considered higher up in the food chain and less common. But these days just finding a beautiful factory Cheyenne Super is plenty enough to command top dollar. For every person who wants a big block there is at least one who would be fine with the small block. Then there are the Boyd Codington types who will buy an expensive immaculate vehicle to customize it no cost or alterations spared including an LS swap. In the end, I would keep the one that suites me best.
